Fifteen years’ of survey data has revealed young New Zealanders’ experiences of racism. Racism was higher among Māori, Pacific, and Asian young people compared to European young people. Furthermore, this study is the first ever to look at the link between racism and health in this age group, with researchers finding links to all negative health and well-being measures examined. The researchers say the results are concerning, and that this is a breach of Indigenous (for Māori) and other international human rights.
