If today you are experiencing feelings of unworthiness, doubting your mental capacity, or struggling with negative feelings about yourself, please allow me to reintroduce you to your true self.
Let’s Us Make Man in Our Image.
In Genesis 1:26, God said: “Let Us make man in Our IMAGE, according to Our LIKENESS, and let them have DOMINION over… So God created man in His image; male and female, He created them.”
Based on that verse alone, can we stop the narrative that women are inferior to men? In verse 27, we read: “Male and female, God created them in His image.” Yes, God asks women to submit to their husbands, but that doesn’t mean that women are lesser beings.
Can I share a secret with you that I learned recently? There is POWER in submission! If my voice no longer shakes and my timidity has transformed into boldness, it’s because I have submitted myself to God’s authority. In return, He has given me confidence, knowing He has my back. Submission invites protection and the sharing of authority from the person you submit yourself to.
Now, let’s return to this blog’s topic:
Knowing or Discovering WHO You truly are.
If you truly believe that there is a God and that He created you in His likeness, meaning with His capabilities, then your feelings of inadequacy and the limitations you are experiencing are due to your disconnection from Him. Because who you are at your essence, the man or woman, created in the image and likeness of God, is still in your DNA. But without a connection with God, because He is the source, your divine identity will not manifest itself.
Did you know that Adam—not God—gave the animals their names? In Genesis 2:19, the last part of the verse says: “…and God brought them (the animals) to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.” The Bible doesn’t mention God correcting or advising Adam during the process. God observed, trusting Adam, knowing He created him to be like Him. #ProudDaddyMoment
Now, if ONE man had the mental bandwidth to perform this tedious task, why do you think you can’t handle much less? I’m sure you didn’t wake up this morning with the task of naming ALL THE ANIMALS ON EARTH!
You might be thinking, “Emma, that was Adam, and that was before sin entered our lives.” My answer is: “Have you been reading your Bible? “
In Psalm 18:34, David said He -God- trains my hands for war so that my arms can bend over a bow of bronze.” I hope you know that David wasn’t using figurative language when he made that statement. Nor was he when he told Saul, in 1 Samuel 17: 34, “When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it (bear or lion) by its hair, struck it, and killed it.” He did this with his bare hands!
Or have you read the story of Joshua who commanded the sun and the moon to stand still in Joshua 10:19? A man like you and I commanded the sun and the moon to stop moving, and they listened to him and stopped.
Did you know that the Book of Judges speaks of a woman as the judge, ruling over the nation of Israel?
I could give many more examples of men and women who accomplished mighty acts when they discovered who they truly were through their walk with God.
By now, I hope, you realized that: 1- You shouldn’t entertain feelings of insecurity because you-my friend- were created in the image of God; and 2- While sin disconnected you from God, it’s not too late to reconnect with Him and discover your true self and start operating in it.
I believe I have said enough for you to stop having an identity crisis. You were created by the God of the universe in His image and likeness. Stop trying to find your essence in books and speeches that are not focused on a steady relationship with God. Today, I invite you to reconnect with God.
Please share this blog with everyone you know. Because why would anyone who is the son or the daughter of mighty God want to live a life below their potential?
