⏱️ Why you don’t have enough time — Dylan Dodson

💡 1 IDEA FROM ME

Here are the three biggest reasons you don’t have enough time in your day:

  • Your phone

  • Your email

  • Your lack of planning

Always remember that busyness is a choice. In today’s world, it is a choice we often let our lack of intentionality choose for us.

If you feel like you never have enough time, addressing those three areas above could easily save you 1-2 hours per day. Here is some quick advice (and if you want more hyper-practical tools, check out my course Shave 10 hours off your workweek):

  • Set screen time limits on your social media apps

  • Pre-plan in your calendar when you will check/work on email. Never check it out of boredom or because you are looking for something easier to do than the task at hand.

  • Schedule out your day so that you have pre-determined when you will do what. I recommend planning the next day out in your calendar at the end of your current workday.

Parkinson’s law states that work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion. Many people don’t allot time for all that they are doing, so most things take longer than they should.

And remember, you can also pre-plan for breaks and fun activities too. This isn’t about being a machine, it’s about living a life that matters. And you can’t live a life that matters if you never have enough time.

💬 1 HELPFUL QUOTE

Abigail Van Buren on how to know someone’s character:

“The best index to a person’s character is (a) how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can’t fight back.”

📖 1 BRIEF BOOK REVIEW

Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann

A book about the history of murders that happened to the Native American Osage tribe in the early 1900s in Oklahoma. It is a fascinating and sad story of how greed devasted a tribe and helped lead to the creation of the FBI.

It is also a reminder of the shameful treatment of Native Americans in our country.

It took a little while for the book to get interesting, but once it did the numerous twists and turns made the story shocking and infuriating at the same time. The story keeps you on your toes.

There were a lot of characters in this story, so at times it was hard to keep track of who was who, but given the vastness of this story it is no fault of the author. If you like history, you’ll enjoy this book.
