💡 1 IDEA FROM ME

Here’s the one question that most people don’t answer, and so they never realize a dream:

What is the best thing that could happen if it succeeds?

Often, we don’t start the thing, work towards the goal, or share a dream because all we think about is the opposite question:

What happens if it fails?

We focus on the embarrassment we might feel. We focus on the loss of time or resources that will occur if it doesn’t work out. We think about how awkward it might be if no one buys from us…..

So we don’t even try. Or we try but give such minimal effort as to negate the potential downsides, which is not enough effort to give it the possibility to succeed.

So, just for a moment, think about this: What is the best thing that could happen if it succeeds?

Will it provide a better income with more flexibility all while doing something you actually enjoy? Will it make a difference in the lives of others who otherwise will be left struggling if not for your impact? Will it allow you to spend more time with your kids, or on something that brings you life?

If you never picture the future of what success looks like, you’ll lack the fortitude needed to push through the difficulty.

So what if it succeeds? You’ll never know if you only focus on avoiding failure.

💬 1 HELPFUL QUOTE

Amelia Barr on the difference between mediocrity and genius:

“Everything good needs time. Don’t do work in a hurry. Go into details; it pays in every way. Time means power for your work. Mediocrity is always in a rush; but whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing with consideration. For genius is nothing more nor less than doing well what anyone can do badly.”

📖 1 BRIEF BOOK REVIEW

How To Know A Person by David Brooks

A book about how to know, talk to, and connect with other people.

It was an interesting read with some great insights and stories. At the same time, I could not distill many concrete points/steps to take away from the book.

Perhaps that wasn’t the goal. If anything, it does make you think. But for me, it didn’t quite live up to the title. Perhaps something like “how to know people” would be more accurate. At least from what I took away from the book.

It was a little slow for me at times as well. Certainly not a bad book, but not a favorite for me.

6.5/10

💯 1 THING I LIKE

Everglades Seasoning

If you’re looking for a new seasoning to try, this is a favorite in my family. I’ve used it on all types of meat and vegetables as well. In fact, this is probably my most used seasoning when grilling.
